![]() ![]() That makes testing pointless, since my results could be very different from yours if you use a different program. The lack of software doesn't create problems for testing photo scan quality, because the scanner itself determines the quality. You can look at the results with any program you like. One way to avoid damaging originals when you scan with a sheet feeder is to protect them with a plastic sleeve, or carrier. Pandigital includes one for holding photos as large as 8.5 by 11 inches, but the company suggests using the sleeve only for photos that are old or slightly curled. I tried scanning some without it, and saw slight marks from the rollers, with the marks getting more obvious with repeated passes.Ĭontrary to Pandigital's suggestion, I'd suggest using the sleeve for any photo you care about. ![]() I scanned a second set of the same photos using the sleeve, and didn't see any difference in quality between it and the first set. There were some differences in how the auto-cropping feature cropped one photo, because it had trouble telling where the dark background in the photo ended and the black backing in the sleeve began, but that's a small price to pay for keeping your originals in good condition.
